Horse Sport Ireland (HSI), as the national equestrian federation, has been notified that athleteDarragh Kenny has been provisionally suspended by the Fdration Equestre Internationale (FEI), the international governing body for equestrian sport.The FEI has indicated that the provisional suspension relates to ahuman anti-doping matter involving a substance classified under Class S6 (Stimulants)on theWorld Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List. Substances in this category may be found in certainprescribed medications used in the treatment of medical conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anaphylaxis, and cold and flu symptoms.This matter is being managed by theInternational Testing Agency (ITA)on behalf of the FEI. As the case remains ongoing,Horse Sport Ireland will not be making any further comment at this time.HSI remains fully committed to the principles of clean sport and fair play across all disciplines.Kenny released a statement this evening to address the matter, emphasising that he is fully cooperating with the FEI and the ITA. He said: I wish toaddress my current situation. Afterthe European Championships earlier this year, I was notified by the FEI of a positive result for a medication prohibited under anti-doping regulations.The medication in question is part of a prescribed treatment I have been taking under medical supervision for ADHD.As a result, the FEI has imposed a provisional suspension while the matter is being reviewed. I am cooperating fully with the FEI and the International Testing Agency (ITA) to clarify the circumstances surrounding this case.I want to emphasize that I never intended to gain any competitive advantage.
