Curran the Speed King, Kraut the Queen of Cool
The 150th Dublin Horse Show has proven a spectacularly successful affair and from an international show jumping perspective, it came to a conclusion in quite a fascinating and dramatic fashion, as American Laura Kraut swooped late to snatch the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix of Ireland with Bisquetta. There was a brilliant podium finish for Shane Sweetnam and James Kann Cruz (ISH), the Cork rider and his Olympic partner from last year having been among the fastest four-faulters to secure third.Earlier in the day, Commandant Geoff Curran posted a seventh five-star triumph of the week for Irish riders, combining with his brilliantly consistent mare DHF Alliance (ISH) to bag the Speed Championship. While the Aga Khan Trophy is the highlight of the week from a team perspective, the Rolex Grand Prix is the individual peak, and this was emphasised by Krauts decision to spare her regular Nations Cup performer Fridays exertions to focus on the 500,000 class. It was a policy that paid handsome dividends as the duo recorded the only clear when entering the ring as the penultimate pairing, to land the spoils.Alan Wades course played havoc with an elite field of athletes and by the time Kraut and her 12-year-old owned by Cherry Knoll Farm emerged from the pocket, there were 11 combinations on four faults preparing for a jump-off.In all, 13 riders retired without completing the 1.60m examination, with puzzles to be solved at every turn. You could have cut the tension with a knife as Kraut and Bisquetta navigated each obstacle that had caused problems before and that was nearly every one and by the time they approached the last, no one in the Main Arena at the RDS dared to breathe. The explosion of noise as they landed on the other side with all rails intact spoke of an appreciation of equine excellence, even though it snuffed out hopes of a home triumph, with Fridays Aga Khan double clear pairing of Tom Wachman and Tabasco de Toxandria Z and the aforementioned duo of Sweetnam and James Kann Cruz in contention in the looming jump-off.In the end, there was no need to prolong affairs. One combination stood head and shoulders above the rest. She is amazing, Kraut gushed in reference to Bisquetta, who might well have returned the compliment had she not been tucking into a bucket of carrots, one presumes. What an athlete. And the best part about it is she did it pretty easily. I never felt her struggle. She just was focussed. She was everything youd want in a Grand Prix horse today.Ive been jumping her at Nations Cups and I really thought I wanted to aim for her to just jump the Grand Prix in Dublin with the idea that she could win it. And it happened!I was fortunate to get to study and watch a lot. The only thing that really solidified for me, from the vertical at the far end to the triple bar, I wasnt going to count a stride, I was going to go with my eye but in the end, I did count. The rest of the placings were then determined on time, leaving Wachman in 12th but there was a brilliant podium for Sweetnam and Gizmo Partners James Kann Cruz, bred by Patrick Connolly.Rodrigo Pessoa, the Brazilian who was chef dequipe when Ireland won the European Championships in 2017, received a rapturous welcome too as he bagged the silver medal with a time of 73.61, compared to the 74.39 that allowed Sweetnam and James Kann Cruz edge out Christian Ahlmann and Blueberry from the last podium spot by just three-hundredths of a second.Meanwhile, it was Curran that was crowned the King of Speed earlier on along with the Minister For Defence and Jess Stallards DHF Alliance.Bred by Paul Douglas, Alliance is established in these classes but there was an extremely strong field aiming for the prestigious Speed Championship.Wachman and Hawaii, previous winners this week, were fifth with a clear round in 62.37 while Jordan Coyle, who claimed a brace of five-star classes this week, was fourth with the admirable For Gold, who stopped the clock on 61.50.A native of Fenor, Co Waterford, Curran and Alliance were too strong however, and their time of 60.57 proved beyond runners-up Kevin Jochems (NED) with Prada Di Costa M. Pessoa, clearly enjoying his return to Dublin, was third with Dhalida.Im absolutely delighted, said Curran. DHF was absolutely amazing today. She won a class for us last year on the Saturday and to come and win the Speed Championship today was a great feeling. She was a deserved winner. She went very quick from the very start, we kept that rhythm all the way along, didnt require any slice of luck which is rare for a speed class and it felt good. I felt comfortable going at that speed and she was amazing.Shes just a perfect speed mare. She wins classes anywhere we go really. When shes on form and if the jockey is on form, shes very hard to beat!Elsewhere, Galwayman, Michael Duffy navigated Be Sky Hawk to a stunning double clear to secure fourth in the lucrative five-star B&D Builders Grand Prix on Saturday night in Traverse City. The $340,000 feature of the Major League Show Jumping leg at the Michigan venue yielded 14 initial clears but the jump-off really sorted them out, with only six managing to remain blemish free as the risk element increased.Duffy and his Breen Equestrian-bred partner were among that select cohort, and their time of 40.16 was enough for a edge two-hundredths of a second in front of Erynn Ballard (CAN), who was fifth on Dior.Victory went to Kent Farrington (USA) with Greya, the pair recording a time of 38.31.At three-star level, James Chawke brought his tally of wins at Thunderbird Show Park to three when scoring in the Grand Prix at the Langley venue with Daido Vant Ruytershof Z. The Portlaoise native also claimed third with Nacara van Berkenbroeck Z.It was the second time on the winners rostrum for Chawke with Daido, though 24 hours earlier, it had been Nacara that had prevailed when they had finished 1-2 in the 1.50m qualifier. On that occasion, Nacara had the fastest tiebreak time but this time around, Alison Lockes horse had a tough task as trailblazer in the 14-combo jump-off.Their time of 40.94 was very competitive until Charlie Jones and Capitale 6 bettered it. That left Chawke with a new target of 40.46 but in Daido Vant Ruytershof Z, a conveyance capable of overcoming it.That they did, shaving 11 hundredths of a second off it to claim the garlands.I thought I was fairly fast with [Nacara], Chawke reflected on his first round. I probably did one too many [strides between fences] one, two, and three. I knew I was a little bit wider there on him, but hes also quite quick across the ground because he doesnt have an overly big stride. I hoped that would be enough to be first or second but Charlie changed that.I knew Charlie and Kara [Chad] were very fast so it was nice that I got to watch them to make a better plan for [Daido]. She was actually slower in the rollback and the last jump; I did one more [stride] to each of those, but I was quicker one-two-three.Shes just becoming a better and better horse. Shes getting scopier and more rideable. Honestly, I think she can jump bigger. I wasnt even sure shed jump three-stars when I got her.BREEDINGDHF ALLIANCE (ISH) 2015 mare by Ard Vdl Douglas (KWPN) out of Rosie Bee (ISH) by Lux Z (HANN). Finding the Perfect Voltage for Electric Horse Fences: A Detailed Guide to Safeguard Your Equine Friends
Section Key Points Why Voltage Matters in Electric Horse Fencing - Electric fences send high-voltage pulses creating a harmless shock. - Effectiveness relies on balancing voltage and amperage. - At least 2,000 volts recommended; 3,000 volts is optimal. Recommended Voltage Ranges for Horses - Dare Products: 2,000-3,000 volts for effective containment. - Powerflex Fence: 3,000-5,000 volts to handle variable factors. - ShockFarm: Charger with 2,000-3,000 volts and at least 0.5 joules. Understanding Voltage and Joules - Joule rating affects shock's travel capacity. - Kencove: 0.5 to 1 joule for efficient pulse strength. Additional Important Considerations - Fence length/vegetation lower voltage; higher output compensates. - Electric fences safe due to low amperage, providing humane deterrence. - Regularly test fence voltage for optimal containment. Summary Table for Horse Fence Voltage - Horses: 2,000 - 3,000 volts (minimum), 0.5 - 1 joule. - 3,000 volts ideal for consistent shock. Final Thoughts - Aim for a voltage of 2,000-3,000 volts; 3,000 volts for reliability. - Ensure charger delivers sufficient joules. - Regularly test voltage along the fence. The Ideal Voltage for Electric Horse Fences: A Comprehensive Guide Choosing the right voltage for an electric horse fence is crucial to ensure the safety and containment of your equine companions. An effective electric fence serves as a strong deterrent while maintaining safety for both the horses and their human caretakers. In this guide, we'll explore the ideal voltage levels for horse fencing, the role of voltage and amperage, and the importance of selecting the right equipment from trusted sources like Just Horse Riders. Why Voltage Matters in Electric Horse Fencing Electric fences work by sending high-voltage pulses through wires, which create a startling yet harmless shock when touched. The effectiveness lies in balancing voltagethe electric pressureand amperagethe current strength. For horses, a voltage of at least 2,000 volts is recommended, although Equus Magazine suggests that 3,000 volts is optimal for a more effective and consistent deterrent [5]. Recommended Voltage Ranges for Horses Dare Products advises a minimum range of 2,000-3,000 volts for effective containment [1]. Powerflex Fence recommends a slightly higher minimum of 3,000 to 5,000 volts to account for variable factors like vegetation load [2]. It is crucial to align with ShockFarm's suggestion of using a charger delivering 2,000-3,000 volts and at least 0.5 joules of energy [4]. Understanding Voltage and Joules While voltage initiates the shock, the joule rating determines the shock's capacity to travel along the fence. Kencove recommends a joule output of 0.5 to 1 joule to maintain efficient pulse strength [3]. Additional Important Considerations Fence Length and Vegetation Both fence length and surrounding vegetation can lower voltage levels. Starting with a higher output voltage and a strong joule rating helps compensate for such reductions, ensuring the fence remains effective even at the farthest points [2]. Prioritizing Safety Despite the high voltage, electric fences use low amperage pulses, making them safe for horses and humans. The design aims to startle rather than injure, providing a humane deterrent [5]. Regular Fence Testing Always verify the voltage at the farthest point from the energizer using a reliable fence tester. This ensures the voltage is optimal for containment and provides peace of mind by confirming the electric fence's effectiveness [1]. Summary Table for Horse Fence Voltage Animal Recommended Voltage Range Recommended Joule Output Notes Horses 2,000 - 3,000 volts (min) 0.5 - 1 joule 3,000 volts ideal for consistent shock Final Thoughts For optimal containment, aim for a fence voltage of 2,000-3,000 volts, with 3,000 volts providing a reliable and memorable deterrent. Ensure your charger delivers sufficient joules and regularly test the voltage along the fence to account for environmental factors such as vegetation. Following these guidelines guarantees the safety of your horses while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the fence. A Trail Ride in Panama
The Unicorn Trails ride in the mountainous jungle of Santa Fe, Panama, is one that dreams are made of. Galloping up mountains, swimming with horses, and riding to a waterfall to cool off in are just a few of the highlights.Unicorn Trails has many remote and adventurous destinations throughout the world, but this one tops the charts for diverse scenery, unique culture, and local hospitality.Panama CityMy friend, Ali, and I spend a night in Panama City to enjoy a traditional Panamanian meal, including yucca and plantains, in the brightly decorated Sabroso restaurant on the Amador causeway. Colorfully lit buses drive the road beside the park where families walk enjoying the city lights reflecting in the water.Lunch in El Valle, a town constructed in the middle of an extinct volcano, breaks up our five-hour drive to Santa Fe. We arrive just in time for dinner at Hotel Anachoreo and join our friends, Dawn and Tracy, for homemade fish soup, with fresh herbs from the hotels incredible garden. Our host, Lizzie, a fit-looking young woman originally from Zimbabwe, arrives to introduce herself and let us know the plan for the morning. My farm is on the river, which isnt always passable because of the rain, so the horses will be transported by roadthe long way aroundto a friends farm, where well begin, she says. While handing out cushy saddle seat covers and saddle bags, she reminds us to pack our bathing suits and towels.Meeting the HorsesAfter a breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, crepes and bacon, we hop in Lizzies Jeep to a small corral where her helper, Jose, is just finishing tacking up the horses.Ali is given Pali, a small palomino mare; Dawn is presented with Luca, a tall brown-and-white Paint Horse; and Tracy has a cute blue roan named Chombin.Jose and Lizzie adjust the stirrups and I mount up on Capitan, a gaited chestnut Criollo. The western saddle is extremely comfortable. They are locally made, Lizzy tells me. Some of the horses are also bitless, which is always a pleasant surprise.Lizzie leads the way on a stallion named Calypso. He hasnt been ridden in a while, she tells us. Well see what happens.Jose takes up the rear on a mule named Mr. Red, ponying Little Dude, a small gray Criollo gelding. Kids come out to greet us.Calypso, eager to run uphill, takes the lead on a wonderful gallop up the mountain road. Resting at Cerro Tute, historically known as a rebel hideout, we tie the horses to a fence for a snack and enjoy the views of the small town of Santa Fe, population approximately 3,500.Petroglyphs and SwimmingAfter crossing the peak, the pine trees turn into cactus plants and the dirt road turns to clayfrom forest to desert just like that! We zig-zag through an array of round rocks displaying petroglyphs (see pg. 72). The wind cools us from the hot sun, but its so strong that it blows the sun brim off my helmet. Even Alis special brim with Velcro and hooks cant fight it. We cross a large river, tie the horses to trees and untack them.Time for a swim, Lizzy announces.Lizzie on Calypso and Ali on Pali cool off by taking a dip as the climate goes from forest to desert. Photo by Shawn HamiltonAli takes Pali right in, deep enough to swim. I hop on Capitan and he is eager to cool off. The current is strong, but the horses plunge through. Its so much fun I can feel my smile growing from ear to ear the deeper I get. The water is just rightrefreshing but not too cold.Leaving the horses behind for Jose to take home, we head into town for a delightful late lunch at a local restaurant and have some yummy ginger chicken. We stop at a store where I purchase a wide-brim hat for under my helmet, and the others find shoes for swimming. A vivid rainbow can be seen from our hotel, where we enjoy fresh cheese from the cheese shop before dinner. At the Hotel Anachoreo, a spectacular rainbow lights up the sky. Photo by Shawn HamiltonA Steep Climb to the CowsA local farmer, Wilson, has invited us to explore his land. We enjoy coffee and homemade muffins in his barn the next morning before heading out. This is the first time Lizzie has taken him up on his offer, and he seems excited to have us.Narrow, rocky paths climb up the mountainside to Wilsons cattle farm. Photo by Shawn HamiltonAli has decided to give the mule, Mr. Red, a try, and he turns out to be a good choice for the narrow, rocky paths clinging to the hillside. We dismount and follow Wilson to a hidden cave, complete with bats and human bones.Steep climbs that lead to incredible vistas and long canters on the sandy footing are a treat. After a rest in the shade, Jose helps Wilson round up his cows, and we help herd them back to the ranch where a homemade picnic awaits us. Dawns Paint Horse, Luca, is the perfect mount to practice roping cows while Wilson and Jose brand calves. What a day!Cattle farmer Wilson invites the group to explore his land, as he and Jose brand calves. Photo by Shawn HamiltonTropical Forest WaterfallDawns sister, Danialle, has finally arrived (delayed due to passport issues), and she joins us for the rest of the week. Just when you think it cant get any better, Lizzie keeps throwing surprises at us.Danialle rides up the freshly graded dirt road in the National Forest. Photo by Shawn HamiltonWe begin to explore the tropical forests of the Santa Fe National Park, a 290-square mile conservation area. Surrounded by hanging vines and tropical plants, a very steep climb takes us to a stunning waterfall, where we can jump in to cool off and swim around in its pools. The newly purchased shoes for swimming come in handy. The current is strong in parts, so we have to be careful. At the end of a great ride we cross the river, dismount and enjoy a wonderful riverside BBQ, finished off with Alis special grilled pineapple. In the tropical forest, a steep climb takes the riders to a stunning waterfall, where they cool off with a swim. Photo by Shawn HamiltonA freshly graded red dirt road on the side of a mountain allows for long gallops. At the top, we rest and take in the views, trying to spot our hotel below.Organic Farm & Hanging BridgeDeep in the forest, we ride to an organic farm for lunch, of which 90 percent of the ingredients are home-grown. The owner gives us a demonstration of how coffee is made. Everyone we meet is super friendly and accommodating. The clouds continue to linger in the next valley, and we can feel the mist in the air, but the rain subsides for the entire week. Everyone has been happy with their mounts. Nothing seems to faze them: not the horses running in pastures next to us, cows coming to check us out, trucks on the road, or barking dogs. They are put to the test when we have to cross a long, skinny hanging bridge hovering above the river. We dismount and walk them across. I am shaking in my boots, but Capitan doesnt flinch. These horses are amazingeven at an old telephone booth, Dawn coaxes Luca right up to grab the receiver. All of the horses are calm while being led across the hanging bridge above the river bed. Photo by Shawn HamiltonGoodbyes & The Canopy TowerOur last ride finishes at Lizzies farm, where we untack the horses and help Jose bathe them and turn them out. It is with sweet sorrow that we say goodbye to the horses, the farm, Wilson, Lizzie and Jose. The experience has been incredibly unique.Ali and I finish the trip with a breakfast tour of The Canopy Tower, just outside of Panama City, where we get to watch various tropical birds and monkeys at the top of the rain forest. A nature walk rewards us with an anteater sighting, a first for me.Just outside Panama City, the Canopy Tower provides views of the rain forest wildlife. A nature walk turns up an anteater sighting. Hope for Septic Horses? Device Reduces Markers of Systemic Inflammation
Veterinarians used hemoperfusion to help reduce harmful immune responses triggered by lipopolysaccharides in adult horses. | Dr. Kallie Hobbs/USED WITH PERMISSION FROM NSCUEquine veterinarians commonly diagnose sepsisa systemic inflammatory response to infectionin horses with pleuropneumonia, endotoxemia, post-foaling uterine infection (which can lead to laminitis), and other conditions. They also see it in neonatal foals. Despite substantial advances in medical management, sepsis continues to be a leading cause of illness and death in these patients, said Kallie Hobbs, DVM, MBA, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM-LAIM, an assistant professor at Texas A&M Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine, in College Station. As part of her PhD at North Carolina State University, Hobbs examined the use of a novel hemoperfusion device (CytoSorb by VetResQ), a polymer column that has shown promise as an adjunctive therapy in cases of human sepsis, in horses. She presented her results at the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Forum, held June 19-21, in Louisville, Kentucky. So, (this is) something that pulls blood out of the horse, runs it back through a column that absorbs toxins, and then puts them back into the horse, she explained, describing the VetResQ device.Testing the Hemoperfusion Device in Horses With Induced SepsisFor the study, Hobbs administered lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a molecule found in the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, to create sepsis in six university-owned horses. Next, she filtered each horses blood through either a sham or polymer column. She collected blood at five time points over 72 hours to analyze neutrophils (using flow cytometry), and at 10 timepoints for cytokine (chemical messenger protein important in infection response) multiplex analysis.Hemoperfusion Shows Potential to Reduce Inflammation and Cell DamageWe found that horses that were filtered with this (hemoperfusion) column actually have reduced signs of sepsis, Hobbs said. All of their white blood cell counts returned back to normal much faster, and then they also had decreased damage markers as part of that.In column- versus sham-treated horses, Hobbs also saw stabilization of reactive oxygen species, which are molecules produced during strong immune responses that can lead to oxidative stress, tissue damage, and organ dysfunction. Additionally, she noticed increased early neutrophil apoptosis, which is the bodys natural process of removing neutrophils after theyve done their job. She did not find statistical difference between systemic cytokines in the column and sham treatment.Next Steps: Using Hemoperfusion in Clinical Equine CasesIn summary, Hobbs said treating with hemoperfusion using this polymer column might improve neutrophil health to reduce overall cytokine concentration in horses with LPS-derived endotoxemia. The device has proven useful in several cases. Were starting to use this clinically in horses that have sepsis, severe liver injury, anything that causes massive inflammation and organ damage as a novel extra treatment that you can do for the next steps, she said.Take-Home MessageHobbs said these results provide proof of concept for hemoperfusion as a potential treatment to mitigate deleterious LPS-induced immune responses in adult horses. She acknowledged the need for future research in horses with clinical sepsis to define the anti-inflammatory mechanism of hemoperfusion therapy.

If youre considering making the trip to the Ariat Outlet Sales held at Tweseldown Racecourse, its important to weigh the benefits and drawbacks to determine if its truly worth your time and effort. What Are the Ariat Outlet Sales at Tweseldown? The Ariat Outlet Sales at Tweseldown are special event sales, typically held annually during competitions such as the BE Horse Trials in October. They offer a restocked selection of equestrian clothing, footwear, and accessories at discounted prices, drawing a crowd of riders and fans looking to capitalize on deals. Pros of Shopping at Ariat Outlet Sales at Tweseldown Exclusive Discounts on High-Quality Gear Outlet sales are known for offering products at significant discounts compared to retail prices. Buyers can often save up to 30-50% or more on Ariats range of boots, riding tights, jackets, and other technical apparel. Wide Selection of Products Having a restock periodically throughout the sale means youll find a variety of sizes and styles, including the latest seasons lines and sometimes last seasons overstock items. This variety increases the chance of finding exactly what you want. Opportunity to Try Products In-Person Unlike general online shopping, these outlet sales allow customers to physically examine the fit and comfort of boots and clothing. Proper fit is critical for equestrian footwear and apparel, thus adding significant value. Social and Community Experience The sales coincide with horse trials events, making it a social gathering for riders and fansan enjoyable experience beyond just shopping. You can also meet fellow enthusiasts and get firsthand recommendations from experienced shoppers. Cons of Shopping at Ariat Outlet Sales at Tweseldown Limited Dates and Location These sales are not ongoing but happen during limited dates (often a weekend in October) at Tweseldown Racecourse, which may be inconvenient for shoppers who dont live nearby or cannot travel at that time. Crowds and Competition Since these events attract deal-hunters and equestrian fans, there may be crowds, which can complicate finding and trying items or require early arrival to get the best pieces. Inconsistent Stock of Deep Discounts Some shoppers have reported that the biggest discounts sometimes apply to a select few products, while other items have more modest savings. This means not everything may represent a bargain. Return Policy Constraints Purchases at outlet sales might be categorized as final sale, limiting returns and exchanges. Its important to check and understand the terms before buying, especially for boots and apparel where fit is important. Comparing with Regular Ariat Stores and Other Outlets Ariat operates standard stores and outlets year-round, such as those at Tejon Ranch in California. These locations provide store pickup, customer service, and a standard return policy within 90 days, offering flexibility. However, the in-person events at Tweseldown can feature flash sales and restocks that may offer better immediate deals during the brief window. Final Considerations Whether it is worth the drive really depends on your priorities: If you value significant discounts, hands-on fitting, and a social shopping experience, and you can travel to Tweseldown during the sales weekend, its well worth considering. If you prefer convenient, flexible shopping with solid customer service and easy returns, then Ariats regular outlet stores or online shopping might better suit you. Additional Tips for Shopping at Tweseldown Ariat Outlet Sales Plan to arrive early to beat the crowds and access the best selections. Bring cash or card ready for payment, but check if the event has any payment restrictions. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing so you can try on multiple items easily. Check the event details ahead of time on Wychanger Equestrians channels or Eventbrite to confirm sale dates and any COVID-19 protocols. In conclusion, the Ariat Outlet Sales at Tweseldown offer an exciting opportunity for equestrian gear savings but come with some trade-offs around timing and crowds. 2 Kansas Horses Test Positive for WNV
On August 8, two horses in Kansas were confirmed positive for West Nile virus (WNV), including one horse in Barber County and one horse in Reno County.EDCC Health Watch is an Equine Network marketing program that utilizes information from the Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC) to create and disseminate verified equine disease reports. TheEDCCis an independent nonprofit organization that is supported by industry donations in order to provide open access to infectious disease information.WNV 101West Nile virusis transmitted to horses via bites from infected mosquitoes. Not all infected horses show clinical signs, but those that do can exhibit:Flulike signs, where the horse seems mildly anorexic and depressed;Fine and coarse muscle and skin fasciculation (involuntary twitching);Hyperesthesia (hypersensitivity to touch and sound);Changes in mentation (mental activity), when horses look like theyre daydreaming or just not with it;Occasional drowsiness;Propulsive walking (driving or pushing forward, often without control); andSpinal signs, including asymmetrical weakness; andAsymmetrical or symmetrical ataxia.West Nile virus has no cure. However, some horses can recover with supportive care. Equine mortality rates can reach 30-40%.Studies have shown thatvaccines can be effective WNV prevention tools. Horses vaccinated in past years need an annual booster shot, but veterinarians might recommend two boosters annuallyone in the spring and another in the fallin areas with prolonged mosquito seasons. In contrast, previously unvaccinated horses require a two-shot vaccination series in a three- to six-week period. It takes several weeks for horses to develop protection against the disease following complete vaccination or booster administration. In addition to vaccinations, owners should work to reduce mosquito population and breeding areas and limit horses mosquito exposure by:Removing stagnant water sources;Dumping, cleaning, and refilling water buckets and troughs regularly;Keeping animals inside during insect feeding times (typically early in the morning and evening); andApplying mosquito repellents approved for equine use.
