A Thoroughbred retraining charity has launched a unique sweepstake which not only gives fans the chance to win a share of the prize pot but also raises funds towards its work.Racehorse Relief, the only accredited charity dedicated solely to retraining ex-racehorses in the southwest, has created the2026 Gold Cup Charity Sweepstake, a digital fundraising initiative that transforms the traditional office sweepstake into a nationwide event for equine welfare. For 5 fans can purchase a ticket and be randomly allocated a horse running in the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday 13 March. If their horse finishes 1st, 2nd or 3rd, they win a cash share of the prize pot. In a unique twist, winners can choose to donate their prize winnings to the charity and fund bedding, foot care and vets bills for ex-racehorses currently in rehabilitation at the Racehorse Relief facility in Cornwall.Racing with a purposeWe wanted to create something that celebrates the excitement of the Gold Cup but keeps the welfare of the horses front and centre, says Jo Massey, founder and trustee at Racehorse Relief.Retraining a thoroughbred for a second career is intensive and costly work. This sweepstake allows racing fans to enjoy the sport they love while knowing their 5 is directly helping a former racer find a safe, loving new home.Racehorse Relief, which is based in Cornwall, specialises in taking horses straight from the track often with physical or behavioural issues and preparing them for second careers in dressage, eventing, or hacking. To enter the sweepstake, which is open to UK residents aged 16+, click here.Images Racehorse Relief.Related contentHow to tell if a horse is happyColic in horses explained by a vet5 things your horses vet really wishes you wouldnt doHorse behaviour explained: why everything they do has meaningThe post Charity launches unique sweepstake to fund racehorse retraining appeared first on Your Horse.
