The Horse Trust has welcomed a special new equine resident who served the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery (KTRHA) for 14 years.Irish sports horse Kahn may have been smaller than some of his Household Cavalry colleagues, standing at just 15.2hh, but his strength and might made him the perfect brakes of the gun carriages as a wheeler.Kahn took part in many prestigious events, including Trooping the Colour, State Openings of Parliament, the late Queens Platinum Jubilee, Operation London Bridge and The Kings Coronation. Outside of these duties, the multi-talented gelding also enjoyed cross-country and showjumping.He was described by his former team as a cheeky character who loves attention, but is laid back.Happy retirementThe 17-year-old veteran horse will now enjoy his retirement at The Horse Trust, where he is already settling in well alongside his old KTRHA friend Billy (Bulowayo), and the rest of the herd, Hyderabad, Odin, Iago, Knightsbridge, Harvester and Atlas.The Horse Trustis the oldest horse charity in the UK providing retirement and respite for the UKs service horses, ponies and donkeys. The sanctuary is based in the Chiltern Hills between High Wycombe and Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.
