British Eventing (BE) has announced it will trial a new shorter form of eventing this season.The pilot scheme, called XC +, will allow participants to compete in two out of the three phases of eventing on one day.XC + will take place at BE80 and BE90 level at selected events.BE members, including Pay-As-You-Go members, who have completed a standard class at the same level within the last 12 months, will be eligible to compete in a XC + class.During the trial period there will be no official scoring system but one will be implemented at a later date.Flexibility and choiceThe aim of the competition is to provide more flexibility and choice for BE members, after a survey revealed members were keen for BE to investigate new formats of the sport.We are thrilled to introduce XC +, said BE ceo Rosie Williams.This concept gives our members greater choice while allowing them to compete in the same supportive and safe environment as standard competitions, with all the necessary resources such as fence judges and safety measures in place.Standard rules for each phase will apply although the dress code for XC + will be more relaxed.
