The Strength and Learning Through Horses (SLTH) equine therapy centre in London is fundraising to mud-proof the stables ahead of the winter. Last year, poor ground conditions forced them to cancel over 120 therapy sessions, affecting the young people who benefit from their services.Located in Mays Lane, High Barnet, SLTH offers mental health support through equine therapy and alternative education programmes for young people aged six to 25.From 2023/24, SLTH has helped more than 400 young people and ran over 700 sessions. To keep up with the demand this winter, the team needs to mud-proof the site and create suitable working conditions for the horses, young people and staff.Donations will help the centre secure an additional all-weather therapy site, a shelter next to the arena, a dry area in the fields for the horses and warm boots and coats for the clients.Winter 2023 was the first winter in our new home, and weve learned the hard way that the site wasnt ready for the wet winter conditions, said SLTH Equine Therapy CEO Rosie Bensley.
