Butheeb International Endurance Village (BIEV) in Abu Dhabi has been selected to replaceAlUla, Saudi Arabia, as the host of the 2026 FEI Endurance World Championship. The championship will take place from Monday 14 Sunday 20 December.AlUlas organising committee, the Royal Commission forAlUla, informed the FEI on Monday 29 June that it was no longer able to organise the championship, originally scheduled for November, due to the current geopolitical situation.The FEI Board approved the termination ofAlUlas host agreement for the event at a board meeting on Wednesday 1 July and reopened the bidding process.BIEV, which is located around one hour from Abu Dhabi city centre, was confirmed as host by the FEI Board during its teleconference on Tuesday 28 July.It will be the second time the venue has hosted a World Championship, having successfully staged the 2022 edition.Multiple strong bidsWe are very pleased with the decision to award the FEI Endurance World Championship 2026 to Butheeb, said FEI President Ingmar De Vos.The Butheeb bid was one of four very strong bids received when we re-opened the process. Arrive in plenty of time to tack up and get ready before the offLots of rides offer starting timesto prevent large groups leavingat once which could create bottlenecks. Double check if you have been given a starting time,and then make sure that you arrive in plenty of time to meet it.2. Set the paceIf you are riding with a group, discuss your plan before you setoff. Do you just want to walk, or would you like to fit in a trot ora canter? If there are jumps, would you want to have a go? Making sure that everyone is on the same page before setting off will make fora happier experience.3. Overtake slowlyIf you catch up with riders ahead of you, make sure that you overtake in walk. If possible, call out to let them know that you are going to pass. Not all horses are confident when others overtake, particularly at speed, so it is best to be on the safe side and give other riders a heads up.4. Check behind for horses approachingOccasionally checking behind will ensure that you are prepared for anyone who might be approaching, particularly at speed. You could then call out to politely ask them to slow down before they overtake.5. Make use of coloured ribbonsMany riders know what coloured ribbons symbolise.Use green fora young, green or nervous horse, and red for a horse who could kick.6. Be mindful of othersNot everyone is looking to do the same thing when on a fun ride some just want to have a gentle walk around, while others will want to take the opportunity to ride at speed. There could be young or nervous horses and riders about, so keep this in mind.7. Join the queue for jumpsSome rides have jumps dotted about for riders to make use of. Before steering your horse over, check that there isnt a queue ora group of riders waiting.
