Vet unit staff from Redwings Horse Sanctuary have completed the Tri-Anglia Norwich Triathlon, raising hundreds of pounds for the charity.Sarah, Emma, Rachel, Lou and Lizzie, who all work at Redwings Horse Hospital, took part in the event on Sunday (23 June) along with Rachels sister Helen.We have the pleasure of making a difference every day to the lives of the horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in our Sanctuary, said vet nurse assistant Lizzie, who made up a three-person relay alongside Sarah and Lou. We love our jobs as well as keeping fit and training together outside of work, so we thought we would take the opportunity to try to raise a few pennies for our beloved charity to help keep caring for our lovely equine residents.So far, theyve raised more than 700, which will go towards the costs of looking after the horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in the care of the largest horse welfare charity in the UK. Redwings, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, is currently responsible for over 2,000 rescued equines, including 700 living out on permanent loan in Guardian homes.Belle the Shetland proved the ultimate cheerleaderWe are very proud of our team, vet Sarah added. We were out of our comfort zones, but we all dug deep to cross that finish line. And we were the only team with a Shetland pony cheering us on!Belle isnt a Redwings Guardian pony herself but lives with three who are.
